Buying guide

How to choose your first Lovense toy: a practical checklist

Start with how you want to use a product, then check the exact model’s shape, controls, care instructions, and phone requirements. This guide helps you build a shortlist from manufacturer information; it is not a hands-on recommendation or a claim that one product will suit everyone.

Based on manufacturer documentation, not independent hands-on testing. Retailer links elsewhere on this site may earn us a commission. How we work

1. Choose the kind of product before the generation

The Lovense range includes different product types and intended uses. For example, the manufacturer describes Lush 4 as an app-controlled egg vibrator, Domi 2 as an external wand, and Calor and Max 2 as male masturbators with different mechanisms. Decide which general form you are looking for, then compare models within that use. A product name or category alone cannot tell you whether its size or feel will suit you.

If you are comparing generations in one family, read the exact model details rather than assuming a newer number is automatically a better fit. Our Lush comparisons explain the documented differences between Lush generations.

2. Separate local control from remote control

For app-controlled toys, check how the exact model pairs with the phone and app you plan to use. Lovense describes Bluetooth as the local connection between a toy and its nearby device; remote interaction also needs an internet-connected device. Remote control does not remove the need for a nearby phone to maintain the toy’s local connection.

If another person will control the toy, agree on how access starts and ends before sharing it. Follow the current app instructions for the chosen sharing method, including any duration or repeat settings.

3. Check the practical details for the exact model

Before shortlisting, look up the model’s dimensions, materials, charging method, cleaning instructions, and compatibility information in its official product page or manual. Care and charging instructions can differ between products; do not transfer instructions from a similar-looking model.

Think about storage, noise, accessories, and how you expect to use and clean the product. Use verified specifications to answer those questions, and leave any missing detail as unknown instead of filling it in from another model.

4. Verify the retailer listing before checkout

Retailer pages can change their title, selected option, images, seller, included accessories, and terms. Check that the listing is for the exact model and variant you chose, then review the seller’s current delivery, returns, and warranty information. Our retailer links are a starting point; the retailer controls the current offer.

We do not show a permanent price or claim that an item is in stock. We also do not publish customer ratings or hands-on performance scores as our own research.

Build a shortlist, not a universal winner

Write down the two or three features that matter to you, compare the matching product pages, and rule out models that do not meet your practical constraints. Our Lush 3 vs Lush 4 and Max 2 vs Calor guides show how to compare specific documented differences without treating personal comfort as a score.

When you are ready, save products in this browser or compare them side by side. Saved items stay on this device and are not an account or a purchase record.
